#PRAYERFORLEONARD

A parole hearing has been scheduled for Leonard Peltier on June 10. At 79 years old, this is likely Leonard’s last opportunity to be considered for parole. A decision is expected by mid-July. The countdown to show our support for Leonard Peltier’s freedom starts now and we need you to join us in taking action!

Together with a broad coalition of organizations representing millions of people across the country, we’re asking the U.S. Parole Commission to recognize that enough is enough and finally grant Leonard Peltier his freedom.

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR TELEPHONE CALL:

“Hello, my name is _____________, and I am calling you today in support of parole for Leonard Peltier, Inmate #89637-132. Almost 80 years old, Leonard suffers from many health issues and uses a walker to move about within the walls of the maximum-security federal penitentiary at Coleman 1.

The prosecutorial misconduct and constitutional violations that took place in the handling of Peltier’s case are well-known and those involved in his prosecution have increasingly stepped forward in affirmation of what they witnessed and in support of Leonard Peltier’s release.

His incarceration is now at the stage where it is both cruel and unusual punishment. I urge you to please grant Leonard Peltier parole at his parole hearing scheduled for June 10th.

Thank you for your time.”

DAY OF PRAYER FOR LEONARD PELTIER • JUNE 10, 2024

On June 10th, we are asking you to gather and show your support and solidarity for Leonard Peltier by hosting a Day of Prayer event in your community. Wrongfully convicted and incarcerated by a hateful, racist, and oppressive system, it will be through prayer, love, and unity that our elder will be released.

Let’s join together, people of all faiths, in prayer throughout Turtle Island and around the Globe for our relative’s release and return to his homeland.

We have included some information in this toolkit about how to host both an in-person and virtual option for a Day of Prayer for Leonard Peltier’s vigil. Art on pg. (insert page #) can be downloaded and printed for event signage as well as examples for banners. We would love to see your event! When sharing on social media please use #FreeLeonardPeltier, #PrayerForLeonard.
